Miami Heat: Gabe Vincent More Productive But Kyle Lowry Makes Team Better

Not being the same since he originally injured his hamstring in the Miami Heat’s first-round matchup with the Atlanta Hawks, it has been a struggle for their QB1 every since.

Over his last five starts across nine Miami Heat games played in that period, he’s averaging just four points, 3.6 assists, and 2.8 rebounds. In that same stretch, Gabe Vincent is averaging 8.7 points, three assists, and 1.8 rebounds.

Though his helper and rebounding numbers are slightly below Lowry’s, Vincent has been twice the point producer (and a little more) that Kyle Lowry has in those nine games.

Well, there’s also the fact that your starting point guard, Lowry, has only put up 0 and three points in the last two playoff games, respectively.

With these facts and Lowry’s perceived health status, it has many wondering—why isn’t Gabe Vincent starting? And to be fair, it’s a worthwhile question.

The simple answer is this. While Gabe Vincent is the more productive individual player right now, Kyle Lowry, even dealing with a bum hammy, makes the team more productive.
