Miami Heat: Oladipo’s Year Was A Weird One, But He Thrived When It Mattered
Once again, Oladipo’s postseason averages did not seem very special. He only averaged 10.6 points per game and 2.1 assists per game.
If you look at individual games though, some of his stats become a little more impressive. He had multiple 20-point games as well as multiple games with three or more steals.
Oladipo’s best game of the season was probably Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Celtics. Although he had a 40-point game earlier in the season, it was in this game that he contributed most positively to the Heat’s success.
Dipo did not contribute much on offense, but it was on the defensive end where he shined. He finished the game with four steals and was responsible for several other deflections that led to forced turnovers.
The Miami Heat were able to hold on to an early lead and win that game because of the extra stops ignited by Victor Oladipo. He seemed more confident defensively after that game and the rest of the team seemed to trust him more as well.
For him to come back after all of his injuries and play the way he did in the postseason was very impressive. He definitely showed signs that he is capable of returning to his form before the injuries.
So, for Dipo, you have to grade on a curve. Based on all you saw, where he came from, how he fought, his actual showings, and the remaining trajectory, you have to go here.
Season Grade: A-
Based a ton on how Oladipo stepped up in the postseason after playing only eight games in the regular season, he earned that high mark for the season. His Game against the Atlanta Hawks in the first round and the outburst to end the regular season certainly didn’t hurt either.
