Miami Heat: Should they look to coax Semi Ojeleye back from Italy?

Of course, there was Ray Allen’s arrival in 2012, which instantly comes to mind. But there were other players such as Kelly Olynyk, Gerald Green, and Avery Bradley who would make their way into the Heat organization.

One former Celtic who, at least, was in the mix of remaining free agents is Semi Ojeleye. After latching on with Milwaukee last summer, the 27-year-old forward was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in February—only to be waived a month later.

While Ojeleye didn’t have the largest impact during his four years in Boston (at least not out of the four names aforementioned), he didn’t receive a significant amount of playing time either.

His role was simplified to that of a developmental prospect behind the star-forward tandem of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

Now, recently signing with Virtus Segafredo Bologna who won the 2022 EuroCup championship, Ojeleye is a player who doesn’t have a huge offensive upside nor is he the youngest player out there.

Heck, per 36 minutes, he’s averaged just 8.5 points over his five-year career and shoots under forty percent from the field. But even for what Ojeleye doesn’t offer, there’s still an entire world to uncover about his game.
