Miami Heat: If Oladipo Is ‘Orlando Dipo’… Great, But He Doesn’t Have To Be
Let’s also be real, if Dipo can be all that he has been at points across his career, perhaps doing what Tyler Hero did last season in being a top scorer in the league and all off the bench, great but he doesn’t have to be that.
That’s the rotational approach, but then, what about Oladipo’s approach or mindset personally? Well, while you can’t be sure of that answer, there are nuggets out there that would indicate how he’s thinking.
Here’s one that comes from Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, where he notes that “the Heat have high hopes for Martin, and Oladipo spurned a potential starting opportunity in Washington to return to Miami in free agency for an impact position.”
That tells you a ton about Oladipo’s mindset. He’s thinking about winning, but also being his best self again, both of which can be accomplished in Miami.
He still has time to go out there and secure at least one more big deal or so. He can do so while looking like his best self and doing so while helping a winning team along, which his scenario right now is perfectly set up for him to do.
The important part of it all is that he chose this though, which is why you are comfortable with his personal approach. And with the three particular “approaches” noted throughout, that’s why the approach with Oladipo, generally, makes it a bit easier to move past his struggles in the preseason with confidence he’ll get right on track as opening tip commences.
