Miami Heat Rumors: Grant Williams A ‘Win Now’ And ‘Win Later’ Type Of Pickup

What that means is that you could finally find that guy without having to sacrifice in any one area of his game. Williams could come in ready-made to be all and exactly what’s needed at the spot, from shooting, to defense, to overall versatility beside a guy like Adebayo.

The defense has been noted, the shooting, going 41 percent from range last year and currently shooting 46 percent, and all while he still continues to grow.

One of the best little things he’s shown as he continues to develop is that as the defender closes out to him hard when he has an open look from the outside, he has learned to relocate with the avoidance side-dribble, right into the upward motion of his shot.

Admittedly, it would be hard for Miami to trade for Willams, straight up, with Boston due to roster construction but if a third team would come to the table, then a deal could be made.

Duncan Robinson and a first-round pick would be the first offer, if nothing more than to try and move Robinson’s salary off the books. Willams will be a restricted free agent next soon anyway, regardless, so it would be better for teams to trade for him now if you want him.

Because the closer and ultimately, deeper, into free agency this thing goes, the bigger the price tag will get.
