Miami Heat Don’t Land Kyrie Irving But Conference Exit A ‘Net Positive’

Now, back to the thought of being in the Miami Heat’s way in the Eastern Conference though, Kyrie Irving‘s former team, the Brooklyn Nets, still do reside there. And here is the important question there.

What does this mean for them? Well, in all actuality, this hurts them immensely.

Labeled throughout thus far for much of the season as one of the teams that should be a contender for the Eastern Conference and thus NBA Title, based on their performance and record, this is now probably a team looking at a fall back into play-in territory at this very moment.

Yes, they do have Kevin Durant coming back at some point. Yes, they do have Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith coming in as a part of the whole deal.

And yes, they do still have Ben Simmons on the roster, now with a potential chance to get more involved with Kyrie Irving’s touches having been removed. However, none of those guys, individually or collectively, amounts to what Kyrie Irving gave you.

Kevin Durant is who he is, so you get that, but it would have taken him and what Irving brings to win a title. And it’s not just about Kyrie’s boxscore stuff either.
