Miami Heat Roundtable: Should They Offer Max Strus $20M-Plus Deal – My Take

When it comes to Max Strus, he’s a really good player

My Take

Always fond of Strus and his game, there’s been one common thread of criticism from this direction. Having so much game that he could possibly get to, Strus just hasn’t gotten to it enough.

An above-average athlete, sneaky even, able to put the ball on the floor, and finish once he gets to the rim, Strus just hasn’t done enough of that during his Miami Heat tenure. He teases you with that ability enough to keep you believing in him and his eventual total diversification but just as he starts to show you a little bit more of that regularly, it goes away.

So, for that reason, the fact that he just hasn’t continued to diversify his game when he has the ability, along with his regression, and the fact that they’re having to figure out Duncan Robinson scenario at this particular moment— it might not be wise to invest into a guy that has regressed a bit in this past season—not that much, anyway.

Again, Strus is a good player and anything less than seven million per, you still have to consider it if you’re the Heat. It’s just that if he’s expected to get 20, he’ll likely get closer to 30, and anything above $24 million, specifically, just might be too much for this Heat team.
