2. Goran Dragic
A reunion with former all-star guard Goran Dragic could be on the horizon for the Heat. This would be a phenomenal pickup for Miami not because Dragic is a splash signing, but because he’s a proficient ball handler and is capable of leading certain lineups. Dragic is a familiar face in the locker room and knows what Spoelstra expects to fight for the NBA title.
Since his departure from Miami, he’s seen his minutes, points average, and overall opportunity gradually decline. Dragic is currently one of the oldest players in the league at 37, with 15 seasons under his belt.
Whether the Heat trade for superstar Damian Lillard or not, Dragic would be a phenomenal option as the Heat’s floor general coming off the bench. His history in the Heat organization would serve as a benefit to a team that’s just a couple of pieces away from hoisting the Larry O’Brien trophy.
3. Terence Davis
With a couple of veterans left on the shelf like Blake Griffin and Will Barton, the Heat could flirt with that idea, but bringing in another athletic young player may be a viable option. Former Sacramento Kings guard Terence Davis spent three seasons in Northern California and two up north with the Toronto Raptors. He’s a former All-Rookie who’s averaged 8.0 points and 2.7 rebounds in his career.
Davis has been to the Playoffs with some top-heavy teams, garnering a No. 2 seed in his first appearance with the Raptors and a No. 3 seed with the Kings last season. Aside from his athleticism, he’s seen the pressure and expectations heading into the postseason. Davis would be a great piece to push the Heat’s stars in practice, and possibly catch fire in fast-paced matchups.
Heat should target Kelly Olynyk, three more former players to round out roster
Like with Josh Richardson, the Miami Heat could look to some familiar faces to complete their roster and fill some important team needs.
