Killian Hayes
Hayes was Detroit’s opening-night starter at point guard but, after making a flurry of trade deadline moves, the Pistons surprisingly decided to waive 2020’s No. 7 overall pick.
Hayes averaged 6.9 points on 41.3% shooting (29.7% from 3-point range), 2.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists during an up-and-down season. He hasn’t proven to have an elite NBA skill, but he’s a warm body with recent NBA reps.
Hayes could be a good buy-low option who can eat some minutes while Rozier and Richardson work back from injuries. He’s still just 22 and if he impresses the coaching staff could be brought back to compete for a roster spot next season.
