  • Could the Miami Heat trade for a draft pick?

According to Ira Winderman at the Sun Sentinel, it is all uncertain.

"” Chet Kammerer, who heads the Heat’s draft scouting, said Wednesday the team remains poised to make a draft-day move, believing numerous picks could become available.”"

However, what will most likely happen is that Riley and Kammerer will have to find gems in the rough — talented players that went undrafted.

"“…Riley and Kammerer said the real work could begin after the 60th and  final pick, when the Heat look to pick up undrafted prospects for the summer-league teams they will be fielding in Orlando and Las Vegas.     “We know we’re going to have a 61st pick,” Kammerer said of his night getting busy Thursday while most of the league winds down.”"

But, Pat Riley said that if the Heat were to move, they would probably move for an early draft pick.

"“After the first 10 or 12 picks, I’m not so sure there’s that player out there,” [Riley] said of those he has come to covet in this draft class.”"

However, even if the Heat go without a draft pick, Pat Riley is not unhappy:

"“If I ever had to do it over again, be draft-less this year and I gave up No. 30 to Cleveland for LeBron James, I’m OK. I’d make that trade again,” he said with a chuckle.”"
