This draft is pretty deep and gives the Heat a few different ways to go, if they were to select at the number 10 spot.

Willie Cauley-Stein is a 7-foot big man who helped the Kentucky Wildcats get to the Final Four. Interestingly, NBADraft.net has his NBA comparison as Chris Anderson. That would present the Heat an opportunity to draft a player that fits the Heat system quite nicely, with the Birdman mentoring him to eventually take over his role.

Frank Kaminsky fits the Riley mold of player he likes to draft. Kaminsky just finished his senior year with Wisconsin, leading the Badgers to the Final matchup against Duke and winning the 2015 Naismith Men’s College Player of the Year.

Kaminsky fits the mold of the last two Heat first round picks in Norris Cole and Shabazz Napier, both of whom had long track records of success in college before Riley eventually selected them.

Other players selected to go in that range include small forwards Mario Hezonja, Stanley Johnson and Sam Dekker, all of whom could fit the Heat in some capacity.

Like I said above, this draft is a deep one and if the Heat are able to keep their pick, they’ll have plenty of options to choose from. If the Heat do end up keeping the draft pick, we’ll have a more through look at each player.

That’s of course if Riley doesn’t trade the pick for a veteran, which he has an affinity for.
