Good Chance They’re Gone

Michael Beasley: As Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reported, the team has until June 29th to decide whether to bring back the former #2 overall pick. His future could be decided by whether the Heat keep their pick or not.

With a 91% chance they do keep the #10 overall pick, the Heat would be in position where Stanley Johnson and Sam Dekker could be their two best options at that position. Both play Small Forward and at have more potential than Beasley at this stage of his career.

Beasley, who the Heat had hoped could become a star next to Dwyane Wade, enjoyed his best defensive season of his career in 2015, posting a defensive rating of 96.7 this season, compared to 107.9 last season. However, he may not have shown enough on offense to warrant a 4th chance with the Heat.

Beasley, while a fan favorite, has never panned out and the chances of him figuring things out this late into this career don’t look good. Beasley played better defense this season, but looked like he had lost a step at times.

Henry Walker: Like Beasley, the Heat have until June 29th to decide the fate of Walker. Walker provided the Heat with a sharp shooter after the team lost their best shooter, Chris Bosh.

Unfortunately, Walker was a black hole each time he ran onto the court, throwing up more three pointers than were necessary at times. Walker provides great energy off the bench, but at 27-years old, Walker does not have the upside as others on the Heat roster.

I’d be surprised if either Beasley or Walker were back with the Heat next year.
