NBA Scouting Combine: 6 Players the Miami Heat Have to Watch

With a likely top 10 pick, the Miami Heat have incentive to do their homework during the NBA Draft Scouting Combine this week. Pat Riley and Co. have been doing their homework. They traveled to Spain, presumably to check out a pair of international prospects. This team has plenty of holes and not much in the ways of adding players, so the draft becomes über important, likely being Miami’s only chance to make a substantial addition.

The players invited to the Draft Combine is substantial and includes nearly every top prospect thought to be worth a lottery pick. The guys who won’t be attending–Karl Towns, Jahlil Okafor and Emmanuel Mudiay–are believed to be the top three players to be picked. They will likely be chosen based on need, and so participating in the combine becomes unnecessary. Also, those international prospects we were talking about? They won’t be attending since their respective seasons haven’t ended.

Miami has a four percent chance of getting a top 3 pick and would have a decision to make in that improbably scenario. They have a 91 percent chance to keep a top 10 pick, if it falls outside the top 10, the pick is sent to the Philadelphia 76ers thanks to a previous trade.

There are plenty of guys the Heat could target at 10, and they’ll pay close attention to almost anyone in range of that pick. Let’s run through a few of the guys the Heat should highlight on their list.
