Welcome back to another Miami Heat Round Table Discussion. On today’s agenda, we choose an early season MVP, reminisce over Mario Chalmers and predict when Justise Winslow will win DPOY.
1. Who has been your MVP so far this season?
Allana Tachauer (@ChitownHeiress): Can I go with the entire team? Yes? Okay then. Even though I had faith in the Miami Heat coming out of this offseason, I am so glad to see that everything president Pat Riley vowed, is turning out to be true. Things are not perfect obviously (can I please get some answers on Gerald Green?) but what a turnaround from last year! The Heat are one of the deepest teams in the league right now, so how can you not commend the entire squad? Everyone seems to be in sync, and head coach Erik Spoelstra is certainly proving he knows what to do with all of the different rotations. So far, so good,
Wes Goldberg (@wcgoldberg): Dwyane Wade has been the Heat’s most consistent player, and Chris Bosh has really come along this past week and is the team’s leading scorer, but I’m going with Hassan Whiteside. While Wade will get a basket when Miami needs him, and Bosh is the lynchpin that the offense and, even, defense revolves around, Whiteside has been truly dominant. With four double-doubles in his first nine games, Whiteside’s scored at least 20 points in three games and recorded multiple blocks in every appearance and a total of 36 rejections. His presence in the lane impacts every opponent’s possession, and he’s cleaning up the boards and getting Miami second-chance points opportunities on a regular basis.
Chris Posada (@cpotweetsstuff): Chris Bosh. While Dwyane Wade has been their best scorer, and Hassan Whiteside has looked like a force at times, it has been Bosh that has been as steady as can be. Bosh is averaging 23 points, 10 rebounds, and 1 block over the Heat’s last five games, and has been the glue on both ends of the floor. And aside from one bad game against the Hawks, Bosh has been the Heat’s most consistent player. He’s also the foundation of the Heat’s electric second unit.
Kristopher Keaton (@kmkeaton2): I’m going to go with Whiteside as well. Bosh has been very impressive in his return to the court but Whiteside has been pretty dominant on the glass and as a rim protector. His paint presence is something that the Heat have lacked for so long and desperately needed.
Ehsan Kassim (@Ehsan_Kassim): Chris Bosh. He has been a monster on defense, has led the Heat in scoring in several games, and has also upped his rebounding game. He’s played a huge role in the Heat ranking as the best defense in the NBA. Bosh is often criticized for his passive game, but he has been far from that this season.
