Miami Heat 2016 Resolutions

Somehow Christmas has come and gone, and 2016 is right around the corner. Therefore, it is time to make some resolutions.

You may choose to focus on losing weight and saving money, but the Miami Heat probably have something a little different in mind.

Chris “Birdman” Andersen

Obviously for Birdman, a new year means infinite more tattoos. The tricky part is figuring out where to put them, given his canvas is running low on room. I guess he would also try not to get traded, if at all possible. After all, he is planning on playing basketball for another 20 years. Currently racking in over $5 million this season, the 37-year-old has played in only three matchups so far, on an average of 5.7 minutes a game.

Chris Bosh

First and foremost, Bosh wants to remain healthy (and we’re right there with him on that one). Nothing is more important. However, Bosh is also probably going to work towards continuing to lead Miami to success. Although he has done a great job so far, even he admits that the team is not focused enough at times. So this upcoming year, he needs to see that this problem is addressed. He will without a doubt try and learn some new guitar cords, too.

Luol Deng

All in all, Deng just wants to be more consistently productive on the court. The 11-year veteran has only scored double-digit points on four occasions this season, averaging 10.5 points per game. He is certainly bringing experience to the table, both on the floor as well as through mentoring the younger players, but his raw shooting percentage could stand to increase.

Goran Dragic

After being apart from them for some time, Dragic naturally wants to spend more time with his family. But he would also love to find his place on the team. The guard, who re-signed with the Heat during the summer, has been struggling to get a feel for where he fits in. And who he works best alongside. Dragic must work on both his confidence and dominance, in order to succeed within the world of Miami basketball.

Gerald Green

Green would love to stay out of trouble in 2016 (as well as continue to keep what happened, under wraps). He is also hoping to continue to improve defensively, giving the team explosive play not only via dunks but on the other side of the floor too. This may be the first time Green has been positively reinforced regarding his defensive talent, but it will not be the last.

Udonis Haslem

Honestly, Haslem just wants to keep doing what he does best: going with the flow. It is clear he is way past his prime (in 14 games, he has averaged 1.6 points and 2.1 rebounds on 8.9 minutes of play), but somehow UD is still an integral part of Heat Nation.

Tyler Johnson

Above anything else, Johnson is hoping to work towards losing his nickname of “Bumpy.” Second to that though, he is making a new contract with Miami, his main priority. I think most fans would agree that by now, he has earned a spot on the team moving forward.

Josh McRoberts

McRoberts just wants to stay healthy. Or at the very least, find a decent new home if the Heat decide to get rid of him.

Amar’e Stoudemire

Staying fashionable is at the top of Stoudemire’s resolutions. As is expanding his already growing art collection. But continuing to impress head coach Erik Spoelstra is also of utter importance to the big man. In the last two games, Stoudemire played for a combined 27 minutes, scoring 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 block and 1 steal.

Beno Udrih

Udrih has a pretty cut and dry goal: play basketball. As long as he keeps getting to play (as a starter, coming off of the bench…it does not matter), he will be fulfilled.

Dwyane Wade

Wade wants, no needs, to keep drinking from the youth fountain he discovered at the start of the season. Wade’s only desire is to stay healthy. As long as he can do that, the rest will fall in line. Including pushing his retirement back at least another year. He is currently averaging 18.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.5 assists on 30.2 minutes of play.

Hassan Whiteside

Whiteside’s number one resolution? Not getting traded. Most people think even the possibility of such a thing is ludicrous, but you never know in the NBA. Whiteside is not going to stop at only one goal though. He also wants to get his NBA 2K rating up, appear in many more music videos, and stop getting into foul trouble.

Justise Winslow

I am pretty sure Winslow would love to coin the hashtag JustiseForMiami. He is also going to work on his shots. While the rookie certainly adds something to the team that just cannot be found on paper, it would also be great if his traditional offensive presence would better shine through too.
