Big names aside, the Miami Heat will have to fill out its roster with other free agents.

With just six players under contract for next season, the Miami Heat have some work to do this summer.

Team President Pat Riley has already said that re-signing Hassan Whiteside is a top priority, and Dwyane Wade is expected to finish his career in Miami.

But beyond that we’re all guessing.

What I know is that the Heat need to make some changes. Last year’s roster was too clunky. It just didn’t fit together quite right, and whatever Riley and Co. do this off-season will have to glue the pieces together nicely.

So let’s go through some of the top free agents the Heat should be targeting. But first some things. You’ll notice that Kevin Durant is not on this list. Why? Two reasons: (1.) I’m sick of reading/writing speculation on Durant and (2.) duh.

Also a third reason: This is a list of under-the-radar free agents. Riley said he might be looking for a “whale” this summer, but the Heat have done a nice job of filling out its roster with niche free agents in the past. They could churn the final roster spots this off-season and, if they do, these are some guys who could be targeted.

Let’s get on with it.
