The Miami Heat are in the thick of a tight playoff race, but that doesn’t mean we should ignore the happenings in the college basketball world.

After all, Miami own a first-round pick this season, which is a rarity. And it is of vital importance they get this one right. The fact that the Heat went from the top of the lottery standings to a spot in the late teens only made Pat Riley’s job harder.

Gone is the chance to land a can’t-miss prospect. Now, it’s really all about scouting and finding a player with the right mix of upside and the ability to contribute immediately.

The Heat’s roster isn’t all that young; Goran Dragic will be 31 by the time next season rolls around. The franchise is in win-now mode, and thus, they need to draft someone who will be a member of their rotation in 2018.

With the Elite Eight set to begin, let’s take a look at the prospects to watch in the most interesting game of the night — Oregon/Kansas.
