James Johnson’s top five dunks of the season
By Rob Slater
2. Switching hands in Toronto
Again, the degree of difficulty here is extremely high and Johnson makes it look rather effortless. There is a fundamental difference between natural and power dunkers. Johnson is a natural.
He’s not going to leave the backboard shaking but he’s going to display some aerial skill that stands out on tape. This is one of his best examples of having impeccable control of his body as he drives to the rim (with the ball in his right hand), gets airborne evades Jonas Valanciunas by switching the ball to his left hand in mid-air to finish the dunk.
There are certainly more visually appealing dunks but Johnson discarding yet another of the league’s seven-footers for the finish is an incredible feat.
