T.J. Leaf, PF, UCLA

Age: 20
Height: 6-foot-10
Wingspan: 6-foot-11
Weight: 222 pounds

Pros:

  • Good feel around the basket.
  • Potential to space the floor with a 3-point shot (46.6 percent on 1.7 attempts per game)
  • Good, physical rebounder
  • Willing passer

Cons:

  • Not very long or athletic, which could limit his rebounding at the NBA level
  • Lack of length to protect the rim
  • Has a slow first step and could be limited as a spot-up shooter
  • Lacks defensive versatility

Lowdown:

Leaf is among many power forward prospects who should be on the board at 14–such as Cal’s Ivan Rabb and Wake Forest’s John Collins–but fills the most needs for Miami right away. His outside shooting touch could help space the floor around Hassan Whiteside, while providing more physicality on defense than last season’s starting power forward Luke Babbitt. Leaf would be a useful player for the Heat to select at 14, though his upside is limited.
