James Johnson

If the Heat don’t land Hayward, the next best thing is to look inward to what they already have starting with forward James Johnson.

There is no doubt Johnson reinvented his career during his one season in Miami, turning into a do-it-all guy for Spoelstra and the coaching staff on both ends of the floor. The Heat are proud of their development of Johnson, turning him into a two-way monster while doing most of his damage off the bench.

Whether Johnson remains in his role as a weapon off the bench or moves into the starting lineup, he will continue to grow into one of the Heat’s most important players (fourth on the team in win shares this year) and if it comes to Riley having to execute Plan B the place to start will be Johnson who not only proved himself on the floor but also bought into the Heat’s culture off the court.
