The Miami Heat dominated the paint with an 126-115 win over the Phoenix Suns, to improve to 5-6.

Wednesday night provided a solid win for the Miami Heat and seemed to get them out of their funk, which was just what Heat fans everywhere needed. While they’re still under .500, this specific showing was a great outcome to hopefully get them back on track.

What this game also did was basically teach Miami that they desperately need this Hassan Whiteside every game. After a poor showing against the Golden State Warriors, he finished the night with a double-double, totaling 28 points and 10 rebounds. Heat fans basked in the Whiteside dominance and enjoyed every second of it. Although he struggled against the Warriors, was limited to three points and got benched, tonight his mental toughness came out and he didn’t let down.

Perhaps that private pep talk after Monday’s loss really sparked something inside Whiteside.

Whiteside wasn’t the only red hot star tonight though. Goran Dragic dominated offensively too, notching a season-high 29 points, combined with nine rebounds and four assists. Not unusual for the guard, who usually plays well against his former team.

Dion Waiters came back after missing two games, staying back in Miami after the birth of his daughter. He had a quiet but effective 16 points, hitting 2-of-4 from downtown.

Even Justise Winslow had a great outing, giving everyone a preview of what he’s been working towards. His hustle on both ends kept the Heat competitive down the stretch, resulting in 14 points and five assists on the night. Something fans hope he keeps up.

For the first time in a while, more specifically since the Atlanta Hawks game back in late October, Miami’s active players all finished with a positive number in the plus/minus category. Collectively, their chemistry was on point. They even had a surprising 3-point shooting night, shooting 40 percent on 12-of-30 attempts.

As for the third quarter, the woes somewhat continued, as they were outscored by seven. However, they made up for it by dominating the other three quarters, so it wasn’t that much of a hit.
