Miami Heat guard Goran Dragic is ready for Vice.
Goran Dragic may have been snubbed out of an All-Star selection yet again, but he’s still all smiles. And not just because a tropical vacation with his family is around the corner either.
The Miami Heat guard just can’t wait to debut the team’s new uniforms. In fact, he’s even got facial hair to match.
For the league’s Nike City Edition campaign, the Heat went with a Miami Vice theme, a concept that many fans have been dreaming of for years now.
Per Nike, each set of jerseys is supposed to capture “insights and emotion” from that city, while also showcasing “the past and present of the clubs,” and what’s to come in the future.
Making Vice perfect for the Heat.
"“It represents the city, flashy,” said Udonis Haslem. “You can get pretty much anything you want down here in Miami. To bring that flash, that grit and that glamor, hopefully it brings us some energy and we go out there and play hard.”"
The guys will be in their white, pink and blue gear for 15 games, starting with their matchup against the Sacramento Kings tonight, January 25.
While Dragic is indeed returning from previously being sidelined with a bone bruise, Haslem has been ruled out for personal reasons. And unfortunately, Tyler Johnson is not quite ready to go yet, either.
After spraining his ankle in a loss to the Chicago Bulls earlier this month, Johnson is taking his time coming back, in order to make sure he’s in it for the long-haul. Although he was initially listed as probable versus the Kings, this changed after shootaround.
"“We hope to give him a couple of more days,” explained head coach Erik Spoelstra. “He is really progressing.”"
The last time Miami faced Sacramento was last January, when they came out on top, 107-102. Currently No. 15 in the Western Conference with a record of 14-33, the team has been struggling, losing their last eight out of nine games.
And now, on top of everything else, they may be distracted by Spoelstra in a 1980’s inspired suit.
