This week, two AllUCanHeat contributors cover all things Dwyane Wade and his connection to the Miami Heat.

Let’s cut to the chase: do you want Dwyane Wade to re-sign to the Miami Heat for at least one more year, or do you feel like it’s his time to retire?

Allana Tachauer (@AllanaTachauer): If you’re ready for Dwyane Wade to retire, you need to re-evaluate a few things. Sure, he’s 36-years-old. And yes, he’s been playing in the league since 2003. But if you watched any Miami Heat Basketball last year, then you know he’s still got it. Maybe not in the way that he used to, but in a way, that works out even more perfectly; with the current team deep in the midst of a youth movement, the roster needs some veteran leadership to balance out the inexperience. Wade has made it clear that he has no problem taking more of a backseat role anyways, so there’s really no reason he shouldn’t re-sign for at least another year. Plus, it seems wrong for Wade to go out after only having a season back with the franchise. He might not want a Kobe Bryant sendoff, but a handful of games last year was certainly not enough.

Lauren Gewirtz (@laurengewirtz): I personally would like to see Wade re-sign. After returning for just part of the last season, I think he deserves at least a full year with the Heat to have a farewell tour of his own. Since coming back to Miami, he has made it clear that he wants to take a more reserved role in coming off the bench. However, fans saw a flash of top-level-Wade in the playoffs last year, proving that he still has it in him to contribute to the team when it matters. In addition to that, he is a great mentor for the younger players on the team.
