Talk to me about your feelings on Josh Richardson…

Tachauer: Listen, Wade will forever be the reason I fell in love with the Heat in the first place, and by now everyone and their moms know how I feel about Dragic. However, Richardson has my complete attention currently. He can honestly do no wrong in my eyes. His passion for the game, the unmatched energy he brings, that 3-point shot… I could go on and on. He has truly become everything Miami Heat Culture stands for, and I see him easily growing into the next face of the franchise. I mean, even his goofy grin and absolutely ridiculous celebrations exactly fit the bill. I’m just so thankful Riley knew better than to let him go. Does he still have work to do? Absolutely. He’s still learning the in’s and out’s of head coach Erik Spoelstra’s unique system. But he’s definitely trending in the right direction. And I think fans can expect a breakout season from him.

Johnson: The Heat fanbase has teetered back and forth on which of the 2015 draftees would be the one to lead Miami back to the playoffs and hopefully, contention. For a while, Winslow was favored, as his diverse defensive skillset made for a strong foundation. But through two games, Richardson is looking like he is trying his best to absorb some of Wade’s leadership and powers like he is a Monstar from Space Jam. For the first time in his career, Richardson is continuously stepping into his shots with confidence. They don’t all go in; his 2-for-10 night from 3 against Orlando says as much. But being willing to try and try again is indicative of Richardson welcoming his new workload.
