The Good, Bad and Miami Heat Culture: What exactly is this team?
The Good, Bad and Miami Heat Culture looks at what has happened with the Heat in the last two weeks, including the return of Waiters Island.
The Good
Dion Waiters has officially returned to the Miami Heat’s active players list after not playing a game since 2017 due to injury. When he first entered the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, it was all excitement, especially for #HeatTwitter.
While Waiters did not play in the game against the Washington Wizards nor against the Atlanta Hawks, he is active and is available. Right now it just seems to be up to him and head coach Erik Spoelstra as to whether he actually gets minutes.
The really good news? For once this season, everyone is healthy (at least for the most part). Wade had an illness last week, but he is back on the court, Waiters will probably be slowly given minutes, and the only player that we don’t have many answers for is Wayne Ellington, but that is not health related.
As reported by the Sun Sentinel, Spoelstra discussed the situation with Ellington in a press conference at the beginning of January:
"“Our team went through an adjustment period in December, some other guys stepped up, some lineups started to emerge. That’s not an indictment on his play. We’re trying to find any kind of combination to find some success.”"
While there is still something to resolve there, finally, Heat fans will get to see what this team can be. Sitting at No. 6 in the Eastern Conference right now (19-19) after a rough loss to the Atlanta Hawks Sunday night, there is still a lot of room for improvement.
It is just that now fans might be able to actually see it.
