No 3 – Trade idea sending Wayne Ellington to the Portland Trail Blazers

In this trade idea, the Miami Heat would send Wayne Ellington to the Portland Trail Blazers for a stretch four in Al-Farouq Aminu and a future second round pick.

This deal, more than any other move in this column, could potentially help Miami win right now more than having Ellington. The Heat without Dragic have decided to move their true 3-and-D wing in Justise Winslow to the starting point guard position, and Aminu could be a solid boost at the 3 and 4, switching between the two positions pretty seamlessly.

As for Portland, guys like Seth Curry definitely help spread out the floor, but the Blazers obviously need a proven shooter to help relieve Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum in the scoring column.

Ultimately, a lot like the Jazz, the Blazers need to make a move soon in order to keep their two-star guards in Lillard and McCollum happy and in competition for a playoff seed. With their current roster and the way it’s assembled, I can only tangibly see the Blazers moving McCollum, if not Aminu, because of how bad all of the contracts are on their team.

Moreover, the Blazers essentially remind me of a Heat team with the way their contracts look like. But, you know, without a superstar like Lillard, which would be nice.

Our next move has to do with another team like the Jazz and Blazers, that desperately wants to keep a winning culture to entice future superstars to sign there this upcoming summer.
