Miami Heat: 5 trades for the Washington Wizards’ Bradley Beal
By Trey Flynn
Trade no. 3 – Whiteside and Richardson get sent to Washington for a solid haul
In this trade idea, the Miami Heat send Hassan Whiteside, Josh Richardson, and an unprotected 2019 first round pick to the Washington Wizards in return for Bradley Beal and Markieff Morris.
Richardson 2018-19 stats: 18.0 PPG, 3.9 TRB, 3.9 AST, 1.1 STLS, with shooting splits of 40.8/37.5/86.0.
Whiteside 2018-19 stats: 12.7 PPG, 12.5 TRB, 2.5 BLKS, and shooting 51.8 percent from the field on 26.0 MPG.
Morris has 1-year left on his current contract and is a perfect moving piece for the Wizards to try and acquire two of Miami’s best players in Whiteside and Richardson. And while this may not seem that different from the first trade where the idea was to send Winslow rather than J-Rich, the Heat would send less in the form of draft picks in this move because Richardson’s potential All-Star talent.
Beal and Morris fit in perfectly on this Heat team, as they would need a hot scorer to replace Richardson and a solid stretch four to stand next to either Bam Adebayo or Kelly Olynyk.
Ultimately, I would even throw another 1st in here to get the deal done, which is a lot like what the Heat were rumored to be doing with Jimmy Butler earlier this season when they were shopping a big man and Richardson for that 4-time All-Star.
Our next two moves are primarily made if Washington decides to go for grabbing as many draft picks as they can from Miami.
