Terry Rozier, Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics are looking to turn a corner being led by Kyrie Irving, hoping to cement the rest of this roster with Gordon Hayward, Jaylen Brown, Al Horford, and Jayson Tatum.

The only tangibly movable pieces – outside of a deal for Anthony Davis – are Marcus Morris, Marcus smart and Terry Rozier. But the Celtics love the production from Morris and Smart this season, as they have both secured starting spots, but Rozier has been such a disappointment for the Celtics this season.

As for Miami, they have a few players that could immediately help Boston’s intriguing roster. Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald illustrated a potential deal for McGruder to Boston below:

"“But beyond the obvious trade candidates ([Dion] Waiters, Tyler Johnson, [Hassan] Whiteside, Wayne Ellington), one league official said don’t discount McGruder, who has a bargain $1.5 million contract that’s set to expire. “That official said he would expect an inquiry by a contender such as Boston that’s in need of a glue-type role player like McGruder. The Heat is over the projected $132 million luxury tax threshold for next season, and re-signing McGruder would raise that tax bill.”"

Boston is full of glue-type role players but Rozier seems to have become an outlier.

Fortunately for Miami, grabbing Rozier would allow them to try and move on from Tyler Johnson (if possible), as they are essentially the same type of player but with incredibly different caps.
