Miami Heat: The pros and cons of Carmelo Anthony in a Heat jersey
Positives for Carmelo Anthony to the Miami Heat
Help with scoring:
Melo will be 35 in March. There’s no way he would sign with the Heat long term if he comes to the Heat, right? Even those he’s seen as a ball hog, Anthony can still score. He can’t score as consistently as he did in his younger years, but he can still hit jumpers and post up from time to time. He averaged 16.2 points per game and shot 40.4% from the field with the Thunder last season, the last time he played a full season. Both are career lows.
Anthony probably wouldn’t start and can come off the bench if there’s a need for some scoring. Call it a very, very, very older version of Olympic Melo? With the current Heat roster, why not give it a shot?
Favor For Wade:
One last dance. Maybe with one of his BFFs? It would be pretty cool for Wade to have Carmelo on his team. What if Anthony actually decides to announce his retirement? He and Wade retiring at the same time while on the same team? Sure! Wait. Udonis Haslem is still with the Heat. Udonis said earlier this season that this season is his last. Would Heat fans be okay with Melo joining the retirement party?
There aren’t many teams who would want Anthony at this stage of his career. Why not set off into the sunset with a respectable franchise like the Miami Heat?
