The 24-25 Miami Heat may not be treading water for long as they are now rumored to be interested in the New York Knicks superstar, Kristaps Porzingis, via a blockbuster trade.
As Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN illustrates below, the Miami Heat are interested in trading for the Knicks superstar, Kristaps Porzingis, with several other organizations being involved too, as the unicorn has grown discomforted by the Knicks front office:
"“The Brooklyn Nets, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Toronto Raptors are among many teams expected to pursue Kristaps Porzingis in a trade, league sources tell ESPN.”“The 23-year-old Porzingis and his brother Janis, who is his agent, met with Knicks management on Thursday morning and discussed his frustration with the franchise’s losing, its past dysfunction and his own uncertainty over creating sustainable organizational success, sources said.”"
Woj has now made it very clear, the New York Knicks seem to have opened up trade talks for Porzingis, who is coming off a terrible left-knee injury, who is now looking to surprise the NBA next season because it seems people have forgotten about the original unicorn. Porzingis, averaged 22.6 PPG, 6.6 TRB, and 2.4 BLKS during his 2017-18 campaign before falling to his severe injury.
Moreover, this could not have come at a more perfect time for the Heat, who seem to have all of the players necessary to make an interesting deal be made. With high capped above average talent, and three young studs in Josh Richardson, Justise Winslow, and Bam Adebayo, you can expect Pat Riley to jump on this Woj bomb.
The question remains, who will New York want?
It is quite possible that with all this Anthony Davis news, that the Knicks will want to do a swap with the New Orleans Pelicans, and if not, doesn’t Miami have just as good assets as the other interested teams Woj informed us of? By not naming the Pelicans, Woj may have opened a door for the Miami front office to swoop in and make a deal for Porzingis.
Time will tell for the Heat, but they can not wait too long, as the trade deadline is right around the corner on February 7th. Can we snatch up the Madison Square Garden star? Let’s hope so.
