Wizards are done doing the “John Wall”

In this trade idea, the Washington Wizards finally tell John Wall, Dwight Howard, and Ian Mahinmi to get the heck out of D.C., please, just go. In return, the Wiz get pieces to build around Bradley Beal and Otto Porter for the remainder of this season, as well as 2020, in Hassan Whiteside, Reggie Jackson, Rodney McGruder, and a few future draft picks.

This move is tough for Washington to swallow, first off, I am aware that no D.C. fan wants Whiteside and Jackson, however, they are both free agents in the summer of 2020. And if the Wiz decided to keep Wall around, they would be paying him another $100 million until 2023, which is definitely not want Wiz fans’ want.

Not only do the Wiz get cap relief in the near future, but they get rid of the headache that is still looming Washington in Wall, as well as get future draft picks as potential assets or young talent.

All jokes aside from Whiteside and Jackson on this team, those two additions would actually allow Washington to get more production than the empty minutes Mahinmi and Howard play, as well as the zero minutes Wall plays as he is out for the season. Whiteside and Jackson’s immediate production in the starting lineup, or off the bench, could allow the Wiz to fight for a playoff spot this postseason, as they have internally (*cough* Ernie Grunfeld *cough*) been adamant about fighting for the playoffs.

This trade idea also cements the idea that Washington will continue to put trust into Bradley Beal for the future, and his production this year shows he deserves it.
