Miami Heat: Pros and Cons of the remaining 26 regular season games
By Trey Flynn
Pros for the Miami Heat’s final 26 games
As the Miami Heat get All-Star Goran Dragic back from a knee injury, as well as the highflying Derrick Jones Jr., the Heat have nowhere else to go but up, much like Jones Jr.’s style of play.
Coming off a 112-101 win against the Dallas Mavericks in a difficult away game before the All-Star break, solidified the potential of this team moving forward, even if Dallas wasn’t a formidable foe. With the return of, “The Dragon,” the Heat should have more to work with because of Spo’s positionless basketball, as this team believes in smallball, high pace, positionless teamwork.
And while the pros aren’t a long list as we get closer to the end of the season, it could also potentially be a wake up call for Dwyane Wade, who may be knocked out of the playoffs if he doesn’t look within himself and find his old self before his Heat team gets kicked out of the playoffs. Yes, that is a lot to ask of Wade, who is barely playing on one knee, but this is his, “last dance,” and you can expect, “The Flash,” to go out with a loud bang.
Moreover, there is a chance that every player on this team is on the chopping block this offseason, as Pat Riley has been vocal about wanting to win another championship. Which, in an odd way, could light a fire under these players and force them to push for the playoffs in these final 26 games, making for the biggest pro on this list.
The Heat will start their final 26 games against the Sixers, tonight at 7 PM Eastern.
