The Miami Heat have been struggling all season long and are looking to turn it around soon, according to General Manager Pat Riley, as he believes that the Heat can sign a star by 2020 to try and win a championship.

As the Miami Heat struggle to make the playoffs this season, General Manager Pat Riley hasn’t been unraveled at all, as he supposedly believes the Heat can sign a few stars to try and win another championship by the year 2020.

Riley has decided to open up this roster completely and get ready for trades, while hopefully keeping his mini “Big 3” in Josh Richardson, Justise Winslow, and Bam Adebayo. In an interview with Fox Sports’ Jason Jackson, Riley details his plan on not letting this team tank and why he tries to fight for the postseason:

"“We’re chasing a playoff spot when we’re young. And then we’re going to be chasing some players that can come in,” Riley said. “If we can get one or two players to come in with this group, this young group, then I think the sky’s the limit for this team in the next couple years.”“I have never thought of anything else other than we want to be a playoff team. We want to think about the championship,” Riley said. “You can’t ever give up on make the playoffs. … I don’t care where you are, you get the right match-up, you get the right player that breaks through, you get the right call — and you’re on to the next round. I don’t care if you’re fighting for a playoff spot — the No. 8 or 7 or 5 or 3 or the top spot or you’re fighting for a championship. You’ve got to be chasing something positive.”"

With Hassan Whiteside, Goran Dragic, and Ryan Anderson being off contract by 2020, the Heat can afford a max contract player to star up next to their mini “Big 3,” however, those are big shoes to fill. It may just be a good idea to re-sign Whiteside to a cheap deal to backup Adebayo, re-sign Dragic to play a solid sixth man role, and lastly get a few more solid role players to fill out this roster with the max money.

I only say that because of me admitting to myself that this Heat team will most likely not get another All-Star that will push them over the top, especially with the best free agent in 2020 being Anthony Davis (I don’t think he’ll want to sign here, or at least, he hasn’t said anything).
