Miami Heat: Former Heat guard Mario Chalmers signs with Ice Cube’s Big3 League
Former Miami Heat point guard and champion Mario Chalmers will be joining The BIG3’s draft pool this summer. He will join a stacked draft pool full of familiar faces.
After its second season, The BIG3 League seems to be a hit. With the league gearing up for its third season, they have started to formulate a draft pool of players that will be added this upcoming season. The names are pretty familiar, and could be very exciting watches, and one of them should be very familiar to Miami Heat fans.
Former Kansas Jayhawk and Miami Heat guard Mario Chalmers is ready for his shot at a BIG3 title. Why not? He was a champion in college, and then of course he was a champion in the NBA. A perfect add to an already stacked mantle of basketball achievements would be a few pieces of hardware from another league that’s become pretty reputable. After all, basketball players play basketball, and every hooper loves being recognized or paid for their game.

Chalmers played seven complete seasons for Miami, from 2008 until the 2015-2016 season, where he was traded to Memphis after playing six games for the Heat. He played 55 games in Memphis that season before a ruptured Achilles cost him the rest of that season, while he went unsigned the following season. He was re-signed by the Grizzlies for the 2017-2018 season, but did not sign with a team this season. He can actually be seen here on the current roster page for the Italian Club Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna.
As pictured above in this tweet from Alex Kennedy, Chalmers will be joined by names like Gilbert Arenas, Josh Smith, MMA Fighting basketball player and former Houston Rocket Royce White among a slew of others. Pair those incoming names with some of the veteran players in the league like Metta World Peace, Stephen Jackson, and Nate Robinson and you should have a pretty good mix.
According to the official twitter of the BIG3 league, the new season of the BIG3 is set to tip in the Summer of 2019.
