The Orlando Magic playoff outlook

The Orlando Magic own all tiebreakers against the Miami Heat, but they have virtually the same opposition strength of schedule for the rest of the season. Both teams have an opponent winning percentage of 50.3 percent.

The Magic’s schedule this week in particular is daunting. They first play Monday night against the Philadelphia 76ers, one of the best teams in the NBA when healthy, especially since acquiring Tobias Harris at the trade deadline.

Winning that game would put the Magic just a half game behind the Heat in the standings and give them an equal number of wins, meaning the Heat would have to actually win more games than the Magic the rest of the way.

They follow that up with Tuesday night against the Miami Heat on the second half of a back-to-back. It goes without saying that this is the most important game either team has played yet this season.

This game against the Heat kicks off a four-game road trip as they travel to Detroit to play the Pistons on Thursday then Saturday they’ll play the Indiana Pacers, and they wrap up the trip next Monday against the Toronto Raptors.

This is a make-or-break week for the Orlando Magic with their toughest competition on the slate.
