The Bad

The Good and The Bad go hand-in-hand this week because while the Heat may make the playoffs, they also might not given the remaining schedule. If they don’t, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, they will be the most expensive team to ever miss the playoffs.

"“With a payroll of $125 million (per spotrac.com), the Heat is the 12th most expensive team in NBA history. But none of the other 11 had records anywhere near as mediocre as the Heat’s.”"

That went up this week to $126 million as Kelly Olynyk got his bonus for playing over 1,700 minutes this season. The Heat are once again over the cap and will be paying luxury tax. Add a season of missing the playoffs to that and things don’t look so great.

Granted, the focus of this season is about Dwyane Wade and the One Last Dance, but this is a team that could be sixth in the East right now if they had won a few more games that they should have won (such as losing to the Phoenix Suns at home.)

After all the scrutiny that the Heat have undergone over the past few summers with contract deals, missing the playoffs would be a bad look. Plus, who doesn’t want to see a few more games with Wade?
