Tonight is the season finale for the Miami Heat as they travel to face the Nets. But more importantly it’ll be the final NBA game for Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade.

Tonight marks the season finale for the Miami Heat (39-42) as they travel to the Barclays Center to take on the Brooklyn Nets (41-40). The Heat lead the season series 2-1. But more importantly, as much as I don’t want to type it, it’ll be the final game for Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade in a Heat uniform.

It seemed like just yesterday we were witnessing Wade win his first championship in 2006 where he also won Finals MVP. When he recruited LeBron James and Chris Bosh forming the big three leading Miami to two finals victories out of four appearances. Scoring champion in 2009, twice on the NBA first team, three times on the NBA All-defensive second team, the list goes on!

Since the Detroit Pistons overcame a 20+ point comeback beating the Memphis Grizzlies, the Heat were officially eliminated from contention, despite a blowout, unforgettable win against the Philadelphia 76ers last night. So, while the game means nothing at this point, the Heat would like to end the season on a high note.

I think I can speak for everyone and say that Wade has been a great inspiration for everyone whether it be on the hardwood or an aspiring journalist in the realm of sports. Without him, I wouldn’t have my passion of sports journalism.

Surprisingly enough, I got to interview Mr. Wade when the team came to practice at my school of Florida Atlantic University. As you may I have guessed, I was nervous, but talking with him was like talking to a family member, he made me feel calm probably knowing I was a novice.

He answered my questions with in-depth responses not only about the improving players on the team but about the impact he had on Miami and his feelings about his “One Last Dance”.

I am entirely grateful for what he has not only done for this franchise, but for what he has done on a philanthropic level. Giving to charitable causes in South Florida and even in his hometown in Chicago just shows how much good-hearted of a person he truly is.

Knowing what he went through as a child, it shows how many obstacles he had to hurdle to get to his dreams. How many times he fell, he got right back up.

So, tonight’s the night we officially say goodbye to Dwyane Wade. A great player, a better man. Thank you.

Next. Paul Pierce says his career was better than Dwyane Wade's. dark

Sincerely, Heat Nation.
