Acquiring a bucket getter

This is undoubtedly the hardest of the three factors to account for, as the Miami Heat don’t exactly have a big bag of money to work with. If they don’t get help in the form of opt-outs from a few players, they are pretty much already cap-strapped for next season.

If they are able to find some cap space, they need to do whatever they can and then some more to try to get in on the Jimmy Butler sweepstakes. If not Butler, then they at least need to try and get another guy who can create, take, and hit big shots when everything else breaks down.

If they were not able to acquire a ton of space, it would be absolutely necessary to try and grab a guy at a value that could come in and make a bang. If things remain the same, Isaiah Thomas or Jabari Parker are names that seemingly fit this bill.

Thomas, who sits the bench currently as Denver embarks on their playoff run, should be able to be had for a decent price. Parker, who was acquired by the Washington Wizards from Chicago mid-season, will most likely not have his team-option picked up. What they both have in common is above average to great shot making abilities, and this is something the Heat desperately need.

If the Miami Heat want to definitely make the post-season next year, these are must haves. Although these things won’t definitely guarantee a title, they should at least guarantee that the team is playing meaningful games beyond April of 2020.
