In today’s look at what’s going on in the world of the Miami Heat, we’ll take a look at the organization’s draft outlook and ways Pat Riley can improve the team.

In today’s edition of Miami Heat Hot Topics, we’ll take a look at the organization’s draft goals, ways to improve the roster, what the Heat should do with their current contracts and we’ll grade and recap Bam Adebayo‘s season.

Without further delay, we’ll get started on what we’ve been writing about the Miami Heat here at All U Can Heat.

Bam Adebayo’s season recap and grade: Bam Adebayo had a great sophomore campaign, moving from backup center into the starting lineup over Hassan Whiteside. Our Tristan Tucker recapped Adebayo’s season and graded it.

3 surefire things that would make the Heat better: Our new co-site expert Kenneth Wilson dived deep and broke down three key things that the Heat could do this summer to improve their fortunes in 2019-20. What are they? No spoilers, you’re going to have to check it out for yourself.

Should the Heat stretch and waive Ryan Anderson?: The Heat are a team without cap space, and they’re a long way from having any. However, if Whiteside and Goran Dragic were to opt out of their contracts this summer, the Heat could actually free up space for a max slot if they were to waive Ryan Anderson. Duncan Smith breaks down how the machinations of the stretch provision could provide a great opportunity for the organization.

Pat Riley to take the right approach with expiring contracts: Along the lines of the seeming lack of flexibility afforded the Heat this summer, team president Pat Riley finds himself with a series of unexpectedly critical decisions in the coming offseason.

From around the rest of the internet:

If the Heat get lucky in the lottery, it will be a franchise first: The Sun-Sentinel’s Ira Windham breaks down the lack of great fortune for the Heat in the NBA’s draft lottery. Not to give away the plot, but if the Heat were to jump up into the top four, it would be the first time they improved in the draft lottery in the history of the franchise.

Alonzo Mourning to represent the Heat in the draft lottery: The Heat will send a familiar face to represent them in the NBA draft lottery. Alonzo Mourning, longtime Heat player and current executive will be on hand for the lottery in the hopes of bringing the stroke of luck the franchise is hoping for.
