Miami Heat: 3 potential deals for Hassan Whiteside’s expiring contract

Hassan Whiteside has a huge decision coming up. After deciding on his player option for this upcoming season and if he opts in, here are a few trades the Miami Heat should consider.

The Miami Heat are cap strapped already as we think about heading into next season. While having quite a few contracts on the books for players who underperformed this past season, they are also now playing the waiting game for players who have player options to decide on. Among those with player options are Goran Dragic and Hassan Whiteside.

While Goran actually added something to the team, giving them a boost when he finally did return from injury and back to form this past season, Hassan was merely a shell of himself. Having been relegated to a bench role this past season, it was sort of a chicken vs the egg scenario with him.

Was he relegated to a reserve role because he had struggled to produce, or did he struggle to produce because he was relegated to a bench role? At over $25 million dollars per year, it was a rather expensive revelation for the Miami Heat and will cost just as much to try to figure out the answer this season. As oppose to waiting and attempting to figure it out, here are three possible trade scenarios for the big man’s expiring deal.
