The Miami Heat are rumored to be interested in acquiring Chris Paul, P.J. Tucker, and perhaps Eric Gordon from the Houston Rockets. We’ll examine how any such deals could be possible.
It’s officially trade rumor season, and the Miami Heat are making sure to get involved in as many of these rumors as possible. In addition to being interested in trading for J.R. Smith in a move for salary relief, the Heat are also reportedly planning to inquire about the possibility of acquiring Chris Paul, P.J. Tucker and Eric Gordon from the Houston Rockets.
Following a disappointing defeat at the hands of the Golden State Warriors, the Rockets have indicated that they’re in full shakeup mode and that basically everybody with the exception of James Harden is on the trading block.
While ostensibly the Rockets are interested in improving their ability to battle the Warriors, owner Tilman Fertitta has been a notorious cheapskate since purchasing the team, and it’s likely he’ll be eager to save money in the margins of any move they make.
It’s going to be tough to compete with the Warriors at the best of times (especially if Kevin Durant returns next season), but it’ll be especially difficult for any organization trying to do so while simultaneously pinching pennies.
We’ll take a look at what would be required for any deal involving either Chris Paul or P.J. Tucker.
