Michael Carter Williams

Talk about a journeyman that needs a home. Once Rookie of The Year and now jumping from one team to another. After six different teams, Michael Carter Williams is heading into free agency to most likely end up on his 7th team in a six-year career.

If the Heat struck out on Thomas, the next point guard they should target for cheap money is Williams. There is a reason why he was the Rookie of The Year. There is a reason why people thought he could be something. There was potential. The Heat is the perfect stop to try to reach that potential as much as he can.

Standing at 6-foot-6, Williams would be perfect defensive point guard behind Winslow. With his height, he is very versatile when it comes to guarding other positions.

Although he has an extremely low field goal percentage at 40 percent. The Heat wouldn’t need him to use as a scorer. I still believe he can be a capable facilitator and a defender.

Even his early stint with the Orlando Magic, his PER and Assist percentage were as high as his rookie season.

There isn’t any downside to signing Williams but the upside could be a reliable point guard off the bench.

What are the Heat planning with the 44th pick?. dark. Next

These are the three top minimum type players I feel are most likely to be signed by the Heat. With such cap issues, there isn’t a lot of possibilities that can occur. But with these, the upside is greater than the downside.
