In our Three Goals series, we’ll look to the future for each Miami Heat player, forecasting what their top goals should be for the coming season. We’ll start with James Johnson.

As we look to the future for the Miami Heat as this remarkable summer winds on, it’s time to break down expectations and goals for the roster. To get things started, we’ll take a look at James Johnson and outline the three primary goals we here at All U Can Heat hold for the veteran in 2019-20.

Johnson had a disappointing season in 2018-19, missing a large chunk of the season as many important contributors did for the Heat, only playing 55 games and starting 33 of them. While his role will likely decline going into next season as he enters his age-33 season, he still has a vital part to play and a variety of ways to do it for this team with a mix of veterans and young players in the rotation.

As the Heat shift from the Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem era into the era of Jimmy Butler and the youth movement with Justise Winslow, Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, perhaps this season will be among the more important of Johnson’s 10-year career.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at James Johnson and set some realistic but essential goals for him in the season to come, and examine the steps he needs to take in order to hit them.
