Continue to grow as a facilitator

Justise Winslow has some work to do with the ball in his hands, but he has the potential to be an excellent play maker as proven by his Synergy passing stats. From the pick-and-roll, the Heat score 1.19 PPP off his passes to spot up shooters, and an impressive 1.189 PPP off his passes to the roll man.

This places him in the 83rd percentile for scoring off passes out of the pick-and-roll, which is pretty darn good for an out-of-position wing forced into point guard action thanks to multiple injuries throughout the season to regular starter Goran Dragic.

His overall assist and turnover numbers don’t jump off the page, averaging 4.3 assists and 2.2 turnovers per game, but he does have a high turnover percentage from the pick-and-roll which brings down his efficiency considerably. He turned the ball over 22.8 percent of the time in the pick-and-roll last season, a rate which was third-worst in the NBA among all players with 200 or more possessions.

If  he can sharpen his decision-making and cut those turnovers down next season, it’ll be another major step in his development as what could eventually be a lead wing.
