In our ongoing Three Goals series, we take a look ahead at the future for each player on the Miami Heat roster and forecast what their top goals should be for next season. Next up we’ll take a look at where Bam Adebayo can improve and what his targets should be.
The Miami Heat starting center position has now been gifted to the deserving Adebayo. After a successful and uplifting second year where he finished the season as a starter for the last 22 games, he proved his worth as a central cornerstone for this team. Even at times overpowering Hassan Whiteside with ease and showing strides as a versatile big man, something the NBA has seen developed in recent years.
The Heat have taken notice and are going all-in on Adebayo for the future. There was a reason he was held out of any kind of trade discussions even with the Philadelphia 76ers when they finalized the sign and trade for Jimmy Butler.
His production from his first to the second year showed flashes of brilliance as his average jumped from 6.9 points per game to 8.9, and 11.8 pts in the final 23 games of the season. While that might not scream future All-Star its the small signs of development in an area that desperately needed attention that bodes well for the position and team.
That’s not the only reason to be optimistic about his progress. He has been a student of the game for a while now and his development is on the horizon. Let’s check out what aspects of his game he can improve.
