Heat Check Gaming power forward 24K Dropoff gets dismissed from the NBA 2K League for violating the league’s gambling policy.

Late Thursday afternoon following a slew of bans for the popular badge glitch in the retail version of NBA 2K20, managing director Brendan Donohue released a statement via the 2K League twitter expressing that Miami Heat Check Gaming power forward 24K Dropoff (notice that his profile page is no longer in existence) had been “dismissed and disqualified” from the league and any of its teams.

The statement went on to say that the two-year pro had violated the league’s gambling rules against “tipping.” This news was shocking since as far as I know there was no official way to gamble on the league itself or its games.

The league’s investigation didn’t find Dropoff guilty of throwing games or participating in such a way that would sway the outcomes of games, fixing games in other words, but they did find that he provided inside information to someone he knew was betting on league action.

The way the release is worded alludes to a permanent ban from all league activities. Maybe in the future, the terms of the dismissal will be re-visited but that doesn’t look like it’ll be happening any time soon.

I reached out to Heatcheck’s Head Coach Derric Franklin but he had no comment on the situation. Although he didn’t have a comment on the situation from his own exclusive perspective, Heat Check Gaming did have an official release on the following. They said the following:

"MIAMI- The NBA 2K League announced today that HEAT Check Gaming power forward Basil “24k Dropoff” Rose has been dismissed and disqualified from the NBA 2K League.HEAT Check Gaming believes in the spirit and integrity of competition. We stand behind the League and its ruling."

With only 2019 All-NBA 2K League center Hotshot and swingman MaJes7ic slated to be on the roster headed into the 2020 draft, Heat Check Gaming will be scouring the draft pool for three new players. It’s unknown if they will re-target guards MOAM and ChaChingSingh, but either way, the team is guaranteed to look and feel different for season three as those two didn’t play much for the Heat Check’s team last season.
