Miami Heat: Dion Waiters sending subliminal messages about playing time
The Miami Heat will play their final preseason game against the Houston Rockets on Friday night. Will Dion Waiters see the court time that he wants to?
Dion Waiters has always been Dion Waiters, even with the Miami Heat. Unapologetically himself, he has never seemed like the one that was shy of letting you know what’s on his mind.
Some will pinpoint it to the fact that he has always been a high-level performer for a very long time, dating back to his time even before he arrived on the campus of Syracuse University. Some will pinpoint it to exactly there, the clout and demeanor he developed as a star player for the Syracuse Orange from the minute he hit campus, it seems like.
Some will even simply say that Dion has always been this way, a product of his upbringing in rough and tumble Philadelphia. Who knows what it is, but it has been Waiters’ makeup for quite a while now.
To continue with this trend about himself, Waiters took to social media recently to obviously get something off of his chest. Here is a screen capture of a story from Dion Waiters’ social media account, via the social media account of a Miami Heat fan.
The whole post is a subliminal message from Waiters. First off, there is the title of Jay-Z’s first album, which is “Reasonable Doubt”. This is probably Waiters’ way of saying that he is always doubted, while always prevailing.
If you notice the title of the song, “Politics as Usual”, this is probably in reference to how Waiters feels as though he isn’t as valued as he should be by the Miami Heat and that this has been the case since he arrived in South Beach. Of course, he solidifies this notion by adding his own touches, a “bullseye” emoji, signaling that he is indeed feeling as though that phrase is applicable in his scenario.
His scenario is one where he has been coming off the bench for most of the preseason, while appearing as if though he is headed for that type of role to open the regular season as well. He is also speaking about a scenario in which he hasn’t played beyond 20 mins in any preseason game, playing just 16 in one game and 11 in their most recent game prior to Friday night’s on Thursday against the Magic.
Perhaps Waiters will see more of the floor on Friday against the Houston Rockets, as the Heat will need all the scoring they can get against the high powered Houston team. We will see though, because as of now, he doesn’t appear too pleased with his role on the team.
The Heat and the Rockets tip-off at 8 pm Eastern time. Perhaps Waiters’ role will be more clear and pleasant to him after this game has finished.
