The Miami Heat begin a road trip on Tuesday night. The first stop in this three-game tour of the Western Conference is the home of the Denver Nuggets.

The Miami Heat have been amazing to start the season. They are off to a 5-1 start, with two wins against extremely quality competition. They beat the Milwaukee Bucks in Milwaukee a week or so ago, while also having the distinct honor of being able to say that they destroyed the Houston Rockets this past Sunday.

They are top five in six of nine of the most fundamental, important, and telling team statistics. This includes points per game(fifth), assists per game(third), blocks per game(second), steals per game(third), field goal percentage(T-second), and three-point percentage(T-first). They are not far behind in rebounds per game where they are tied for ninth, or three-pointers made where they are tied for ninth, while they could be better than their 23rd ranking in free throw percentage.

They take their show on the road to see if these figures can hold weight against a 4-2 Nuggets team. The Nuggets rank 25th in points per game, 17th in rebounds per game, 25th in assists per game, and sixth in opponents points per game. This Nuggets team is coming off a victory on Saturday against another Florida based team in the Orlando Magic.

The Miami Heat got James Johnson back on the floor against the Houston Rockets and he came back with a bang. Reports seem to indicate that enigmatic combo guard Dion Waiters will be on the bench and available for the first time this season against Denver on Tuesday.

Justise Winslow is listed as “questionable” once again with back tightness. Derrick Jones Jr. and KZ Okpala will be out for the Heat. For the Denver Nuggets, Miami Heat draft pick Bol Bol will not play, while explosive wing Will Barton is listed as “day to day”.
