The Miami Heat are coming off arguably their worst performance of the young season in Denver. Now, they’re on to Phoenix to face the resurging Suns.

The Miami Heat are coming off a tough loss on Tuesday at the hands of the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets came out firing, getting out to a 10-2 lead on the Miami Heat. They led for much of the first half, although the Miami Heat would close the gap and even tie the game at one point in the second quarter.

From that brief back and forth throughout the rest of the game though, the Denver Nuggets led and dominated. They actually made it look pretty easy. There were times or shots during the game where you just knew that the Nuggets were going to sink it or that you wondered if they would ever miss.

The Miami Heat looked sluggish from the beginning. One tell-tale sign or barometer of the energy of the team as a whole was the usual spark plug-ish, Bam Adebayo.

He was out of sorts on Tuesday night, unfocused even, missing layups, bunny shots, and even mistiming simple and reflexive things like his gathers on layup or dunk attempts. This Miami Heat team as a whole will need to be better in order to beat the Phoenix Suns on Thursday on their home floor.

This Suns team isn’t the one from over the past few years. They are off to a 5-2 start and seem to be trending in the right direction.

Even with the suspension of one of their star players in Deandre Ayton, they have continued to roll on, giving the Philadelphia 76ers their first loss of the season on Monday night. The Suns are led in scoring by Devin Booker at 26.1 points per game.

They are orchestrated by Ricky Rubio at the point, who averages 8.5 assists per game, to go along with 12.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.8 steals per game as well. The Miami Heat will need to keep an eye on Rubio while focusing heavily on Booker if they want a chance to win this game on the road.
