With the Miami Heat off to a 9-3 record and tied for second place in the Eastern Conference, there’s tons to digest. Here are some of AUCH’s top stories recently.
The Miami Heat are in an awesome place through about 15 percent of their season. While they could have arguably been in a better position, based on losing a game without the services of Jimmy Butler, a 9-3 record is nothing to sneeze at.
On top of being 9-3 overall, the Miami Heat have managed to maintain an undefeated record on their home floor. Although they have played two more games on the road than at home, five at home and seven on the road, that is still pretty impressive and even this early on in the season.
Their latest victory came over the injury-riddled New Orleans Pelicans. While number one overall pick Zion Williamson is yet to play a game and will be out for several more weeks at minimum, if not longer, the Pelicans were without quite a few of the rest of their main guys. Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and JJ Redick all missed the contest for New Orleans.
Nothing to cry about there for the Pelicans though as the Miami were without Justise Winslow in concussion protocol, Goran Dragic with illness, and Derrick Jones Jr. with a hip strain, to name a few. In any event, the Miami Heat were able to pull it out 94-109 to remain undefeated at home. With that being said, let’s get into some of the Miami Heat Hot topics over the last week.
The 15 Greatest Dwyane Wade moments of all time
We all know by now that Dwyane Wade is not only the greatest Miami Heat player of all time, but he is the third greatest shooting guard of all time. When you have earned the right to be called and referred to as being that high on the totem pole of the NBA’s all-time greats, then you must have your share of great moments.
Of course he does.
“South Beach Flu” becoming bigger than just the party scene
The Miami Heat have always been known to be a team that opponents know won’t just rollover. This season seems a little different though, as the Heat look to be a pretty good squad. Regardless of how well the Heat look though, there will always be some that try to credit the home success to something else.
The “South Beach Flu” refers to the notion that teams that come to Miami are more interested in the nightlife/party scene than they are in actually competing in the game that they are there to play. While that may be true in some instances, it can’t be true in all of them and definitely not this season.
Goran Dragic’s bid for the Sixth Man Award is officially real
After being injured for a good part of last season, Miami Heat team president made it seem as if Goran Dragic would reclaim his spot in the starting lineup upon this season starting. As it turns out, that wasn’t necessarily the case.
As we later found out, but although reluctantly at first, Dragic amicably accepted the fact that he would come off the bench as the sixth man. Thank goodness the Miami Heat weren’t able to move him when they were trying to this offseason.
The Dragon is officially breathing fire! While having one of his best stretches of outside shooting in a Miami Heat uniform, Dragic is lighting it up off the bench in a multitude of ways. He’s been rather consistent as well, scoring 13 or more points in eight of the eleven games that he’s played in. Goran’s been so good, that he has some thinking Sixth Man Of The Year Honors, although we saw it coming the whole time.
The Miami are currently off until Wednesday, when they will face the Cleveland Cavaliers. Until then, check back with All U Can Heat for all things Miami Heat.
